Registry Optimization
How to Compress and Defragment the Registry
To switch to the Registry Optimization mode, select the Optimization command on the Modes bar in the left part of the main Reg Organizer window.
The Registry Optimization mode is implemented in the form of a wizard; that is, it walks you through the process step by step. To move to the next step, click the Next button. To get back to the previous step, click the Back button.

Selecting the Registry Optimization Options
Select the operations compression, defragmentation, or both as well as the Registry hives that will be optimized. A hive is a section of the Registry stored as a separate file on the disk. A hive contains a Registry key from one of the top levels in the key hierarchy, its subkeys, and all data related to these subkeys.
The Registry consists of several files containing information about its hives. You can see which files correspond to which Registry hives in the list at the bottom of the optimization window. You can also select the keys that should be optimized.
Recommended: Select all hives for optimization.
After making your selections, click Next to move on to the next step. If the program detects running applications, you will be offered the opportunity to close them. After closing them, Reg Organizer will analyze your system Registry and show the results on the Summary tab.

Preliminary Optimization Information
Reg Organizer tells you how urgently the Registry files of your system need optimization.
You can see information about all Registry files on the Summary tab. The Compression area displays a graph showing how compression will reduce the size of your system Registry (percent and kilobytes). The Defragmentation area shows how many fragments are optimal and how many there are currently.
The By Separate Registry Parts tab contains the same information for each of the Registry hives (files). If you do not want some hives optimized, clear their checkboxes.
After reviewing this information, click Next to optimize your system Registry. When optimization is complete, Reg Organizer will show you the results.

Viewing Optimization Results
After file optimization is complete, Reg Organizer will warn you that your computer will be restarted. You can also see the status of the operations in the main window of the Optimization mode and look at the optimization results presented in numeric form.
Note: When you close the message window, the system will be automatically restarted. Changes will be applied only after the system has been restarted.
Please note that...

It is strongly recommended to restart the computer right after optimization is finished! Do not work with any applications before you restart the computer!
