Applications Uninstaller

General Information about the Applications Uninstall Mode

Applications Uninstall Mode Purpose
How It Work

Applications Uninstall Mode Purpose
When Reg Organizer operates in this mode, it resembles a powerful tool allowing you to remove unwanted applications from your computer including application files, application data saved in the system Registry and system configuration files, libraries installed by given application to the system folders etc. Besides, this mode allows for displaying changes made by the application to each of the system components mentioned above.

This may be very useful when dealing with programs that do not include uninstaller that allows for fast and proper application uninstallation. There are situations when native application uninstaller fails to remove all the data associated with give application, which results in system Registry being cluttered with unwanted information.

This mode can be used not only to uninstall applications but also in order to monitor changes to the system that occurred due to some action taken, i.e. application start.

You can also use this mode to create Registry snapshots. Any two Registry snapshots can be compared at any time in order to get the list of differences between them.

How It Work
The process of monitoring the system for changes is based on the following concept. Two 'snapshots' of system state are taken - first snapshot is taken prior to application installation while second snapshot is taken after application installation and first run. Then, two snapshots are compared. The comparison results display all the system changes that occurred after application installation. The changes are saved as log-files (described below). The following information on system components is saved when taking snapshots:
  • Files. Reg Organizer saves information about all files and folders on your hard drives as well as file size and date of modification information for each file and folder.
  • System Registry. The program saves the entire Registry (except for duplicating keys), including all keys and values data.
  • System files. System configuration files win.ini and system.ini are saved entirely.
All the components mentioned above are taken into account when taking snapshots with default settings (i.e. the program, has not been reconfigured). However, you can use the Objects to Trace tab in the Applications Uninstall Mode window to make Reg Organizer save information on some of the components, e.g. files only. In such case, Reg Organizer will only be able to report file system changes and restore file system objects only.
