Installing a New Application
You are about to install a new application to your computer and you would like Reg Organizer
to track all changes made by installation program to your system, so that you can restore the
original system state completely in future. Enter the Applications Uninstall mode and
switch to the Main Functions tab. Click Install An Application. In a window that
appears you can see hints on this step-by-step process:
- Step 1. Reg Organizer saves current system configuration, i.e. it takes first system
snapshot. To go on, click Next. As soon as the first snapshot is taken, the program will proceed to Step 2.
- Step 2. The first system snapshot is taken. You can now proceed with software
installation. You can start installation by either pressing the Install An Application
button (you will be prompted to specify installation executable path) or by running the installation
executable manually (e.g. using Windows Explorer). Reg Organizer may be closed during the software
installation. You may even reboot computer in case the installation software requires this step.
If you have closed Reg Organizer during the installation process, you will need to run it again
in order to finalize the creation of the installation log file. Enter the Applications Uninstall
mode and switch to the Main Functions tab. Click Install An Application. Reg
Organizer will report unfinished installation and will prompt for process finalization.
After installing the application run it at least once before proceeding to changes analysis (step 3).
Once the installation is complete you can proceed to taking the second snapshot and further snapshots comparison (analysis of changes made to the system during installation). Click Next.
- Step 3. Comparing two snapshots may take plenty of time depending on your computer
configuration. As soon as this stage is complete you will be taken to the Results page.
Here you can specify the installation name for the application installation you have just
completed (in most cases Reg Organizer determines the installation name automatically, but
sometimes this may not be possible). Press the View Results button to view all changes
made to your system during the installation of application.
Log files (files describing changes to your system made by the software installer and the
software itself) are stored in the subfolders of \Reg Organizer\UninstallInfo\. The
subfolders names correspond to installation names you have specified in Step 3 of
the software installation wizard.
See Viewing Logged Changes to find out how to view changes made during the installation of a program.

Uninstalling an Application
Remember: You can use this feature to uninstall an application only if you previously used
Reg Organizer's Install an Application feature to create log files for it. In other words, you can uninstall only those programs whose installation Reg Organizer controlled.
In order to uninstall an application enter the Applications Uninstall mode of Reg Organizer,
switch to the Main Functions tab and then click Uninstall An Application. This
feature works only with applications installed using Reg Organizer (i.e. if the corresponding
log files are available). Once you click Uninstall An Application, the window will appear
containing the dropdown list of all available log files. To uninstall an application, select
a log file from the list and press the Uninstall button. The process of reverting
changes described in the log file (i.e. application uninstallation) will then start. The
uninstallation report is available by switching to the Uninstallation Report tab.
The Delete Log Files button allows deleting selected log file without initiating application
uninstallation process.
Uninstaller can operate in two modes. Choose appropriate uninstall mode using the radio group
at the bottom of the window. The uninstallation modes described below:
- Complete uninstall (default). Reg Organizer uninstalls application completely by
bringing back all changes listed in the log file. Afterwards, the log file is deleted.
- Registry recovery only. Reg Organizer restores system Registry values only. The
log file is not deleted.
