Updates checking plug-in for Reg Organizer Check For Update v.2.0 Please read the information below before using the CheckForUpdate plug-in for Reg Organizer. It can also check the availability of a newer version every time you start Reg Organizer. Requirements ------------ The plug-in requires: * Reg Organizer 3.0 or above. * An Internet connection. Proxy connections are supported. Installation ------------ The plug-in is supplied in a zip archive. 1) Extract setup.exe from the zip archive and run it. 2) Follow the on-screen instructions. You will have to specify the Reg Organizer installation folder. By default, the plug-in files will be copied to the following folder: \Reg Organizer\Plugins\CheckForUpdate How it works ------------ If the plug-in is on (see "Turning the plug-in on/off"), it checks for updates every time you start Reg Organizer and notifies you if a newer version of Reg Organizer is available on the official site. If the plug-in is disabled, it will not check for updates automatically. Nevertheless, you can always check for program updates manually by choosing the "Check for Update..." item in the "Help" submenu of the main Reg Organizer menu. Turning the plug-in on/off -------------------------- After installation, the plug-in is turned on by default. To turn the plug-in on/off: 1) Start Reg Organizer. 2) Select the "Settings" submenu from the main menu. 3) Select "View Plug-ins". 3) Select the "Plug-ins" tab. 5) Choose the "Check for Reg Organizer update". 6a) To turn the plug-in off, click the "Disable" button. 6b) To turn it back on, click "Enable". If the plug-in is not working as expected ----------------------------------------- Problem: The plug-in is installed, the Internet connection has been established, but the plug-in (or Reg Organizer) notifies you that there is no Internet connection. Possible solution 1: If you are using a firewall, make sure its has been configured to allow Reg Organizer and the plug-in (CheckForUpdate.dll) to exchange data with the Internet. If you do not know how to configure your firewall to allow the plug-in to establish Internet connections, refer to the firewall manual or contact the technical support service of the firewall you are using. Possible solution 2: You may be using a proxy server different from the one specified in your Windows settings. You need to specify the proxy server in the plug-in settings. 1) Start Reg Organizer. 2) Select the "Settings" submenu from the main menu. 3) Select "View Plug-ins". 4) Select the "Plug-ins" tab. 5) Click the "Configure" button. 6) Specify the necessary proxy server and its port in the plug-in settings window. Problem: The plug-in is installed, but when you select the "Check for Update" item in the "Help" submenu, you receive a message that the plug-in must be downloaded from the manufacturer's site. Possible solution: Make sure that CheckForUpdate.dll is in the following folder: \%Reg Organizer folder%\Plugins\CheckForUpdate where %Reg Organizer folder% is the Reg Organizer installation folder. If the plug-in (CheckForUpdate.dll) is not in the above folder, please reinstall it as described above.
