Search parameters

Are there any plans to broaden the search capabilities to allow Regular Expression (RE) sepcifications for search parameters?
Often times there are multiple factors which could produce fewer trees in the forest of results to assist in locating desired information, but may require wildcard specifications to accomplish.
For those who are familiar with RE specifications, this often allows for more accurate definition of search parameters. Hence the request, if not already present, to add RE support to search specifications.
